The flagship schemes driving India's push on farmer income support, logistics, industrial zones and entrepreneurship.
PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi), launched in 2019, provides βΉ6,000 per year (in three equal instalments) as direct income support to landholding farmer families, transferred directly to bank accounts β one of the largest direct benefit transfer schemes in the agriculture sector.
PM Gati Shakti (2021) is a National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity β a digital platform that brings together the infrastructure planning of 16+ ministries (roads, railways, ports, airports, etc.) onto a single GIS-based map, aiming to eliminate planning silos, reduce logistics costs, and speed up project execution through integrated planning.
SEZs, governed by the SEZ Act, 2005, are designated duty-free enclaves treated as "foreign territory" for trade and tariff purposes β offering tax incentives and simplified compliance to attract export-oriented investment and manufacturing.
Startup India (2016) supports new enterprises through tax exemptions, easier compliance, and funding support (via the Fund of Funds for Startups). Stand-Up India (2016) specifically facilitates bank loans between βΉ10 lakh and βΉ1 crore to at least one SC/ST borrower and one woman borrower per bank branch, for setting up greenfield enterprises β targeting entrepreneurship among historically underrepresented groups.
