How probity and integrity apply specifically to Telangana's state administration.
Just as at the Union level, state civil servants in Telangana are expected to uphold accountability, transparency, rule of law, responsiveness, and courage. These values are reinforced through mechanisms like the RTI Act, 2005 (applicable to state government bodies too), state-level Citizen's Charters, and the Telangana Lokayukta, the state-level anti-corruption ombudsman.
Beyond the central Lokpal, states have their own Lokayukta institutions to address corruption complaints against state government officials β Telangana's Lokayukta functions similarly to Lokayuktas in other states, investigating grievances against public servants and recommending corrective action.
State-level administration is often the point of most direct citizen contact β ration distribution, land records, local infrastructure, welfare scheme delivery β making responsiveness and courage (resisting local pressure to bend rules) particularly tested values in this context.
General concepts on public/civil service values and probity in governance are covered in depth in our UPSC Ethics β Public/Civil Service Values and Probity in Governance notes.
