The constitutional basis and role of APPSC itself β worth knowing for the exam you're actually taking.
State Public Service Commissions, including APPSC, are established under Article 315 of the Constitution. Their composition, appointment, and removal procedures are governed by Articles 316-317, closely mirroring the provisions for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Members of APPSC, including its Chairman, are appointed by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. They hold office for a term of 6 years or until the age of 62, whichever is earlier. Removal follows a process broadly similar to that for UPSC members, involving reference to the Supreme Court in cases of alleged misconduct.
APPSC submits an annual report on its work to the Governor, which is then placed before the State Legislature, along with a memorandum explaining any recommendations not accepted by the government β a mechanism intended to preserve the Commission's independence and accountability.
